Gail Mallatratt

My work is an investigation into themes of innocence lost and recaptured and experience gained. An interest in personal, family and historical contexts informs the images. Many of the works are autobiographical using motifs of landscape and figure.

I use a variety of media to explore these ideas in woodblock prints. An interest in colour and an expressionist leaning are an extension of her drawing practice. She allows an immediacy as well as a depth of sentiment to come through her images which present a dreamlike memory.

Gail studied at St Martin’s and Central School of Art and received a Masters degree from Camberwell School of Art in 2009.
