MARIANNE F
Born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1958 and educated in the UK, Ferm received an M.A. in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Art in 2010. She currently divides her time between printmaking and teaching.
Water is an important and re-occurring motif in her work and she uses aquatint and etching as printmaking techniques to capture the raw energy of the oceans and other water systems. She likes to depict waterscapes in a state of continual physical transformation, creating vivid juxtapositions of light and form which reflect the rhythms and cycles of the natural world She also uses etching to show the imprint that water’s energy leaves behind on both the natural and the urban landscape.
Her work is held by the Ashmolean Museum, in the Clifford Chance Collection and in numerous private collections. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers, based at Bankside Gallery and a member of Artichoke Studios in Brixton.
